Natural Fading of Tattoos
Although tattoos are permanent, your immune system immediately begins removing the tattoo ink the moment it’s embedded in your skin. This natural removal process is why tattoos slowly fade and lose color over time.
The reason this natural fading process takes so long is because the ink particles that make up a tattoo are intricately placed in the skin’s dermis, the deepest layer of skin. Furthermore, the ink particles are vastly larger than the tiny cells that chip away at the ink.
How It Works
Laser tattoo removal speeds up the natural removal process by breaking up the large ink particles so your immune system can flush them out more easily. During a treatment, our laser sends multiple ultra-quick pulses of light energy over the unwanted tattoo. The light energy safely travels through the skin and targets the unwanted tattoo ink without harming any surrounding skin tissue.
Depending on their color, the ink particles absorb a particular wavelength of light energy, causing them to heat up and shatter into much smaller nanoparticles. These tiny, fragmented particles are then absorbed by your immune system and flushed out through the lymphatic system over the weeks following a treatment, causing your tattoo to fade.
To completely remove or significantly fade a tattoo, virtually every customer will require multiple treatments. Each treatment with the laser targets the shallowest layer of ink and works its way down until each layer is targeted down to the deepest layer. You will see your tattoo fade more with each treatment until your desired goal is reached.
